The Unnao gang-rape survivor who was stabbed and set ablaze on Thursday died at 11.40pm on Friday following cardiac arrest, a spokesperson for Safdarjung Hospital said to media.
Her last words as per her brother were: Bhaiya mujhe bacha lo, mujhe marna nahi hai. Jinhonne mere sath ye kiya hai, unhe mai maut ki saza paatey dekhna chahti hu", which meant ‘Save me, I don’t want to die. But make sure they (the attackers) are not spared. They must hang.’ Her brother further assured her that no one will be spared.
As per reports, the 23-year-old Unnao woman on Thursday was on her way to meet her lawyers in Rae Bareli when she was attacked by five men, including two who were accused of raping her in December. She was thrashed with sticks, repeatedly stabbed, set ablaze, and ran screaming for help in a ball of fire.
By the time she was rescued, she had suffered 90% burns. After being shifted from Unnao to Kanpur to Lucknow, she was finally airlifted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital for treatment.
Referring to the Hyderabad ‘encounter’, her brother said he hoped his sister gets ‘quick justice’.
He further termed the Hyderabad encounter as 'true justice' and urged that his sister too gets similar justice as no one wants the rape accuses to walk out freely after a certain period of time.
Following this heartbreaking incident, netizens are demanding Hyderabad like justice for the victims family.
