In a sensational development, all four accused — who were allegedly involved in the gang rape and murder of a veterinary doctor — were gunned down by Cyberabad police in an encounter in the wee hours of Friday at Chatanpally in Mahabubnagar district, where the victim was earlier set ablaze by the accused.
According to reports, all four accused Mohammed Areef, Naveen, Shiva and Chennakesavulu were killed in the encounter.
Cops claimed all four accused tried to escape while the crime scene was being reconstructed and were killed in the encounter.
It may be mentioned that on the night of November 27th, 2019 the victim was brutally gang-raped by four men and charred to death while on her way home near Shamshabad area.
Following wide media coverage of the incident, a countrywide outrage broke out demanding the victim’s justice.
Earlier the four accused, all lorry workers, aged between 20 and 24, were arrested on November 29 on charges of raping and killing the woman and had been sent to judicial custody for 14 days on last Saturday.
Following the encounter of the four accused, the netizens started congratulating Cyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar, an IPS officer of 1996 batch, also popularly known as an ‘encounter specialist’ and the man behind the encounter of these four accused.
