The stage is all set for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kokrajhar, scheduled for Friday to participate in an event to celebrate the signing of the Bodo agreement.
The Prime Minister in a tweet said, “Tomorrow, I look forward to being in Assam. I will be in Kokrajhar to address a public meeting. We will mark the successful signing of the Bodo Accord, which brings to an end a problem that had been persisting for decades. It marks the start of a new era of peace and progress”. He has also termed the signing of the agreement ‘a very special day for India’.
As the festive atmosphere prevails in Kokrajhar to celebrate the Bodo accord, a cultural programme of ethnic groups of Assam is being organised to showcase the diversity of the State. Moreover, Kokrajhar has been decked-up and roads repaired for the celebration.
On the other hand the residents of Kokrajhar lighted one lakh earthen lamps this evening and prayed for overall peace in the region and to welcome the Prime Minister.
It may be mentioned here that more than 10,000 ABSU volunteers have assembled in Kokrajhar along with several cultural troops from across communities to take part in the celebration.
